The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Dr. Margaret F. Reid
Dr. Margaret F. Reid is a Professor in the Department of Political Sciences at the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where she has just completed her second term as Department Chair. With a broad experience in urban studies and community development, she recently created with a group of colleagues the Initiative for Resilient Philanthropy and Public policy and its implementation arm, the Nonprofit Change Project, a 501c3. She currently serves as president of this organization. The main purpose of NCP is to strengthen capacity in regional nonprofits. In that role, Dr. Reid has worked with nonprofit organizations to improve their impact on communities as well as to prepare students for careers in public and nonprofit management. She is a member of the Association of Strategic Planning, was a past member of Board member of the Northwest Arkansas Continuum of Care and the Northwest Arkansas Housing Coalition.
After earning a Master of Public Administration in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma, she went on to complete a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. In 1986 she completed her doctorate in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, focusing on Public Administration and Urban Planning. Prior to joining the University of Arkansas as an Assistant Professor, MPA Director and Graduate Programs Coordinator, Dr. Reid served as an Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas and the University of Louisville.
Dr. Reid also engages in a number of international projects working with colleagues across the Middle East, Africa and China. Besides English, she speaks German and reads French.
