The Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Jana Wardian, PhD
Jana Wardian is an Assistant Professor for Research in Internal Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication at Northern Arizona University and attended graduate school at Arizona State University earning her Master of Social Work, and Doctorate in Social Work in 2015.
Her unique position with UNMC is as an academic coach in the Division of Hospital Medicine (HM). She primarily mentors hospitalists in reaching their professional goals which include improving patient care through quality improvement (QI) projects and research studies, presenting their findings, publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals, and strengthening their application for a fellowship.
She will be presenting at two national conferences this summer; the American Diabetes Association (ADA) ePoster Gallery & Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES), where she is conducting an education session with Elizabeth Beverly, Ohio University.
She truly enjoys connecting with health professions instructors as they co-develop curriculum to educate their students about the social determinants of health (SDH). She continues to seek innovative ways to teach others about SDH to improve patient care.
