Worldwide Women’s Association Recognizes Dr. Laurie Rancourt


Dr. Rancourt’s career spans several key positions in academic leadership. From 2014 to 2021, she served as the Senior Vice-President Academic at the Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning in Etobicoke, Ontario. Prior to that, she was the President and CEO of Northern Lights College (NLC) in British Columbia. Her extensive experience also includes various roles at College Boreal, one of Ontario’s two francophone colleges, where she served as a faculty member and held numerous management positions, including Coordinator of Health Science Programs, Dean of Community Service Programs, Manager of Job Connect, Registrar, Vice-President Academic, and Vice-President Corporate Services.

Dr. Rancourt remains actively engaged in higher education as an independent consultant, focusing on organizational development, leadership, labour relations, quality assurance process audits, project management, and strategic planning for higher education organizations in Ontario and Canada. She also contributes to academia as an occasional sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) and as an adjunct professor teaching online for Central Michigan University.

A bilingual professional fluent in both French and English, Dr. Rancourt is committed to advancing the quality of higher education. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education from the University of Toronto, a Master of Arts Integrated Studies – Work, Organization and Leadership degree from Athabasca University, and a Baccalaureate in Liberal Science from Laurentian University. Dr. Rancourt is also an Ontario college graduate, holding a Diploma in Medical Radiation Technology from Cambrian College.

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Rancourt has been recognized for her contributions to higher education. In 2021, she received the Robert A. Gordon Leadership Award from Humber College. She has also been an active participant in various symposiums and forums, sharing her insights on the evolution and transformation of Canada’s colleges.
